Dear Neighbor, As my career as a criminal prosecutor reaches its 25th year, I reflect on the great honor it has been to serve the community of Los Angeles. You will find that I am an experienced prosecutor who is willing to use every legal resource available to see that victims and their families receive the full extent of justice under the law. I advocate for victims of crime not only in the court room, but as a leader in the victim's rights movement, and as an advisory board member to several victim’s rights organizations. As a ballot signator for “Jessica’s Law,” I fought to protect children from sexually violent predators. In 2008, I co-authored comprehensive legislation known as the Victim’s Bill of Rights, also called “Marsy’s Law,” which greatly expanded Article I Section 28 of the California Constitution thereby giving victims of crime 17 constitutional rights under California law.
As your next District Attorney, I will bring a new perspective on crime to Los Angeles, one which will promote safe streets, safe schools and safe neighborhoods. I am the only candidate with a specific plan and an effective solution to fix the important problems of prison overcrowding and early release of violent felons. My plan for criminal justice reform is called "Reform First." "Reform First" will save hundreds of millions of dollars, generate jobs, promote employment and improve public safety while reducing jail and prison populations.
I invite you to contact my campaign so that I can attend your event or organization's meeting to discuss these issues further in person.
